Afghanistan

The landlocked country Afghanistan, famous as heart of Asia is crossroads between South and Central Asia with mountainous landscape. The Hindu Kush mountain is Afghanistan backbone, which is running northeast to southwest across the country and dividing Amu and Indus River Valley.

The major Amu river/ Latin Oksus with 2,661 km cut Afghanistan from central Asia, which flows out of the Pamir Knot and Karakorum Range. Pamir knot is the interloop of the Himalayas, Tian Shan, Karakoram, Kunlun and Hindu Kush ranges.

Afghanistan neighboring six countries. Pakistan 2,430 km on the east and south, Tajikistan 1,206 km,Turkmenistan 744 km, Uzbekistan 137 km on the north, Iran 936 km on the west and China 76 km in the extrem east in the high Pamir Mountains.
